Hi folks,

I just joined this list. My third cousin in Norway, whom
I've never met and about whom I didn't even know until he
wrote, asked me if I could find his mother's brother and/or
descendants for him.

What I know is this:
1. Johan Gustav ISANE/ISENE, b. Jan 29, 1895, emigrated
from Bergen to Viborg, SD in 1913.
2. His father's cousin, Ola Morkesethaug, was already in
Viborg.
3. Johan may have changed his name to John Midtgard when he
arrived.
4. Johan was sent to France as a soldier during W.W.I.
5. He may have been a deserter. According to my cousin,
"He was promised a fortune if he went to France as soldier.
But it was just lies, so he deserted from world war I."
6. After the war he may have changed his name to John
ANDRE.
7. He married June, 1924.
8. He may have moved to San Francisco.

I am not knowledgeable about searching genealogy in the US
because my ancestors did not live there except for a brief 7
years in this century, so I'm not sure how to begin this
search. The family never heard from Johan after 1924. Any
suggestions?
