Ray and Susan et al

This has been a fun trip and also difficult journey. My wife is the g-
grand daughter of Richard Warren Sears of Sears and Roebuck [sold out
in 1908 or so - no money left!!!! ] I have photos- tin types- of
his mother and father, James Warren Sears and Eliza Burton as well as
James' father and mother Richard Sears and Susan Gilbert. I pick
them up in Dryden NY 1820. I have assumed from records that Richard
was a soldier in the war of 1812. The siblings of James are Celia,
Serena Macomber, John Colby. Given these names I can only assume
which line they come from but cannot quite prove it.
It is/ Is it? possible that Richard was married previously to Sarah
-- and is the child of Sarah Bumpas and Richard Sears???

The Irony in this story may be that after R.W. Sears died his widow,
Anna Lydia Meckstroth Sears moved from Chicago to Brookline MA.
Here she built a chateau for $10M +/- thinking that a once common,
midwestern girl could enjoy the status of, being a Sears of MA. She
may have been a Sears of MA since her marriage.

Ray, your site is a wonderful source and nicely organized. Kudos,
cousin-in law.
