Subject: [2NDST] Using Zope with Second Site and other external content
Date: Wed, 09 Apr 2003 04:33:47 -0600

Hello list,

I've discovered that by simply adding a header line and a footer line
to my template files, that the html pages produced by Second Site can
be smoothly integrated into a Zope built/powered site. Zope combines a
webserver, scripting language(s), and database backend all in one package.
I'm told (haven't tried it myself yet) that Zope sites can easily be
published as a set of static pages, in the case that one might want to
use some other webserver, or do a cd.

Various converters are available to directly import PDF files, MS Word
docs, Excel spreadsheets, Power Point and others. HTML support is built
in. Search capabilities are also built in, and lots of add-ins are
available (called "Products" in the Zope scheme of things) - even I've
been able to install discussion boards, weblogs, photo albums to go
along with the output from TMG/Second Site.

Zope is freely available for Windows, MacOS X, Linux and others under an
open source license. I have no connection in any way with any Zope
related business, I'm just an excited hobby enduser.

Thank you for all the tips, I'm thrilled at how they have allowed me to
tie the database pages in with other content.
and thank you for the most excellent Second Site software.

Concept testing, nothing fancy at

The BLEWDEN family pages are the best so far. These pages haven't been
tweaked in any way (yet), they're just as output from Second Site.

Feedback, suggestions most welcome, I'll answer as best I can any
questions.

Happy publishing,
Glen Crofford
