Thank you, Donalyn for your interest and efforts. It is most interesting
that Savannah, as well as Charleston area, had quite a large population of
Jewish settlers in their history. Whle living back there for four years,
recently, I was unable to find the particular names for which I am searching
in any of their records. The search still goes on for we believe that one of
this same line, later ran a business in Savannah, and have learned that a few
of them may have ended up in the New York area. There is a living descendant
there that we have been unable to actually speak with. So I continue to try
to contact them. At the earler end of the line, we found other Wolfe/Woolfe
surnames that appear to have been from a different line. I have retained
that little groups information for the nearby county to Effingham, had quite
a history on them. This Wolfe couple had daughters and one son. The son
died early and left no children. I could find no descendants via the
daughters. I also spoke to a second Wlfe line still living in Effingham
county. They claimed they were not related ffandf that family was from
Tennessee. No info pertaining to their origin that they knew of. My point
being that the name was quite visable in this area of the south. And what I
did find might help someone else.

The DNA testing you mentioned is also quite interesting to me. Some
curiousity has existed for many years for us as their are certain
characteristics in my own direct family that are always questioned, by
complete strangers. Because we yet have no proof or answers to these many
questions, we laugh and tell them that our appearance could come for a Jewish
great-grandmother or a possible Cherokee ancestor from north Ga. or
Tennesse!! Little do they know how many years we have searched for more
information. I believe that until I can find the origin of my George Woolfe
and his sons, I may never know. I believe this information of Sephardic
ancestry to be true, for it was well accepted in the little community that
Roxie Anna (Wolfe) Rountree was of Jewish descent.

My recent stay in Savannah was filled with joy, because I was able to search
on location for these families. Time ran out. of course. One goal that I
had never was realized, and that was to visit the Temple there in Savannah.
I understand that they are very open to helping researchers, and do have some
old records available. The Georgia Historical Society also has a specialist
in Jewish research, but was never able to contact her. Altho I did visit the
Historical society many times, I found little if any infor, because I was not
that knowledgable of all possible resources. So I continue this
search....and hope that sharing these little details may lead to something.
Thank you for providing this list for us. I have indeed learned much over
the years by monitoring the info that passes through the list, and it has
encouraged me to study more, and not give up hope.

I am happy to share any info that I have with anyone.
Judy V. (Rountree) Mason
