Sorry I've been hard to find lately. If my spine and hands would cooperate,
geesh! And then there's all the stuff I hold inside and then burst out
about (like Melungeon). Oh well. I'm reading more and more fables about
the Oregon coast and hope I look into them properly before I spread
anything, however...

Graham, this Gruen/Groen is very interesting to me. I'm told that my
Portuguese/Spanish 5th grgrandmother used this name after she stowed away to
America. It is written that her real name was Cristina Olivars or
Oliveiras. She was said to be a ward of the Spanish Crown and a cousin to
them. She left because of a marriage agreemnt to an Austrian prince. I
believe these families are connected in the medevial wine industry.

I don't know how much is true or when in time it happened. I'd love to
chat. How's New Zealand? I met quite a few of your countrymen when the
World Masters' Games were here in Portland, Oregon and I worked there. I'd
migrate to Nelson in a heartbeat :)
