I used the 1861 census at 1837OnLine last night (Sydney time) with success.
The main problem that I found was that it doesn't provide page references -
you have to try and decipher them from the image (which is not always
possible). I have only looked at images and not the household transcription.

Dear Judy,

The 1861 Census has only very recently become available on 1837on-line.
Am not sure if it is fully complete yet though. I have just tried to go
into that web site to find out precise details but at the moment it
doesn't seem to be available.

Best Wishes

Dear All

I have just 'heard' that the 1861 Census Index will be available
tomorrow in
the same way as the 1901 Census. Is this true?

Best wishes

Judy Excell
