Dear Anne,

Whilst I cannot help with your wall, having had a look at a few sites, I
have found the following:

In the 1851 and 1861 Census's, those Braziers born in Bexhill are:

James (1789) Thomas (1793) Henry (1802) and your George

If these are brothers, then you will be looking for a marriage before 1789.

Also in the A2A site there is the following which is shown as being at the
East Sussex Records office

Overseers of the Poor: settlement - ref. PAR367/32

Settlement examinations

FILE - Settlement examination - ref. PAR367/32/4/41 - date: 3 Nov
1794
[from Scope and Content] William Brayzier [Brazier] of Bexhill;
born at Bexhill, apprenticed to Mark Sargent of Hastings St Clement, boat
builder for six years

Whether William is another sibling I don’t know, but he will have to have
born before James and this would push the marriage window back quite a
number of years.

At the end of the day, you will need to have contact with someone with
access to the Bexhill parish records to find the births of these brothers
and see who the parents are.

More questions than answers I am afraid but happy hunting.

I am hoping someone maybe able to help me trace the parents, siblings etc of
my 3 x great grandparents. They were George Brazier b 1802 in Bexhill on
Sea, Sussex and Sophia Elphick b 1798 in Hastings, Sussex. They were married
in "Hollington Church in the Wood" on 13/09/1820 , witnessed by Thomas Abbet
and Mary Stuberfield. The parish for both George & Sophia had the entry "St
Mary Magdalen" Unfortunately no father's names were given for either of
them. On the census reports George is down as being born in Bexhill and
Sophia in Hastings.
