You make a VERY valid point, and one which always concerns me..... Gus
Ellis has made a very good analysis of exactly what those CDs include,
and maybe he will send it to the list again (hint hint Gus!).
Those CDs are only a _sampling_ of very few places in Ireland, and
should only be used as a guide.
*** There is NO substitute for searching actual records, whether its
vital statistics, passenger ships, census or anything.
This is my major concern about genealogy lately, and especially
genealogy on the internet. People do tend to take info at face value (if
the name matches, it must be my person, so what if the date is off, and
the location doesn't match).
This is very dangerous and wrong, and contributes to the growing amount
of wrong information in genealogy.
Remember the first three rules of genealogy.....
VERIFY, VERIFY, VERIFY.
