There are (were?) six languages in the Gaelic family: Irish, Scottish,
Manx, Welsh, Breton and Cornish. I believe that Cornish and Manx are
dead languages. The separation point for Breton is the 4th or 5th
Century so one would expect it to vary from Cornish/Welsh/Scottish more
than they do among themselves. "The Celtic World" eduted by Miranda
Green has an excellent article on the languages and their status today.
