Good day :)
Just wanted to thank all those who so kindly pointed me to the INDEXED 1880
US Census on the LDS site.
Actually, after I wrote I tried that site, and was able to find the page, and
data I needed. Thanks.
Here's the data on my Michael Kelley:
Frank, I found these two Michael Kelly's with an age of 46-47 in Brooklyn NY
in the 1880 census
Michael Kelly 46 born Ireland
Mary wife 40, Mary daughter 18, Sarah 16, Kate 14, Ellen 10, John 4 All born
in Ireland
I also found the ship they came over on: The Spain, which arrived in NY on
June3,1872 via Liverpool, and Queenstown.
With this data in hand I did searches on his daughters Sarah and Kate birth
years at familysearch.org site.
I found only one birth record of a Sarah born to a Michael Kelley, and a Mary
REILLY in Williamstown,Galway on July 30,1866. The problem here is that my
aunt before she died told me that his wife was a Mary DONOGHUE, but I have no
other proof of this!
I later found a Catherine Kelley also in GALWAY, TUAM, but her mother was
given as Mary Potter.
And then I found one other Catherine Kelley born on 27May 1865 in Wicklow
whose mother was a Mary Ryan. This sounded a bell for I have discovered that the
grave of my GGrandmother and
GGrandfather James Tobin was paid for by a Mary Ryan.
However, the birthday or possibly Baptism IS GIVEN as MAY WHILE on Census
birthdate is given as October, and the year 1865 seems to early and does not
synch with Census.
If anybody has any connections or knowledge of these Kelleys, or their
mother's I'd sure like to hear from you.
Thanks again to all who so kindly responded. Slainte' Frank
