Message Board Post:
Hi Kristen!
It's been a long time. How have you been?
I put your question to Jesse Crisler, who I think either you or your mother
have been in contact with.
He responded with:
"You did send me the Samuel obit that you had transcribed; I'm sure it
must have included his complete birthdate, but I must also have overlooked
that. Jean Trigg is the wife of a second cousin of my father's; her
husband's grandfather, Israel Foster Trigg, married Mary Etta Shattuck, a
daughter of Scott Shattuck, while my father's grandfather, William Fredrick
Shattuck (Mary Etta's brother), married Jessie Cornelia Trigg, Israel
Foster's youngest sister, so the offspring of the two families were double
first-cousins. Israel Foster and Jessie Cornelia's father was Thomas
Eldridge Trigg, and one of his sisters married Arthur Peyton. At this
point, however, we are not positive of relationships with our Shattuck
Peytons. Merriel and I believe that Arthur J. Peyton, b. 1806, is a son of
Stephen Peyton and Mary Williams; Ancestry.com says that this Stephen
Peyton is the grandfather of our Stephen W. Pyeton, the intervening
generation being Stephen Peyton who married Mary Dou!
ghty, but Merriel thinks that Stephen W. Peyton is actually a son of
Stephen Peyton and Mary Williams. I haven't worried too much about
straightening the Peyton mess out, because they are at that point pretty
far removed from me on either of my lines. Jesse"
We have been collaborating since this past summer and we now think that the
information on Aurilia's children and their spouses are fairly
complete. Let me know if you would like a copy of this part of the
Shattuck tree.
Best regards,
Nancy Shattuck
