Dear Friends at Shearer Surname List.

The MALTMAN / BAIN / SHEARER family are
related to Matthew's family by more than one link.
However I have to confirm a lot more beyond that of 1830's
that I can share with you..

This web page tells the story of our two girls
Margaret SHEARER who married John Maltman in 1829 and
Mary who married James Maltman in 1832.
Both families had a daughter named JANET BAIN MALTMAN, while
Margaret named two daughters JANET BAIN MALTMAN,
obviously after first one died.
I can only deduct that their mother was Janet BAIN Maltman
which is a Scottish naming pattern.
It MAY be that Margaret and Mary were sisters or could have
been cousins. I found in records that +
Mary SHEARER b.27.8.1806 to John Shearer and JANET BAIN and a
Margeret SHEARER b.19.8.1802 to Robert Shearer and Jean Hutcheson.
The family had links to these other names like
HUTCHISON & MITCHELL (chemists Glasgow),
JAMIESON - HIGGINS - HORN - STRANG - BARRIE
MURDOCH - DICKSON - JEFFREY.
For many years I researched Lanarkshire (Glasgow) but only later realised
that they lived across the river at Dundas and other places in
Renfrewshire, where I could do some more research...
I have two friends also that have BAIN in their families -
One states - Leonard Turnbull (solicitor) b.1939 was son of
Henrietta BAIN wife of Austin Bonnar Chamberlain Turnbull -
Queensland. I have lots of names and if I can help someone else
I would be happy to do so.
