I am new to this list so am flagging my interest in the Shearer name.
I have a Jonathon Shearer and Janet Mills who had a son John Vincent Shearer (farmer) born about 1830 Port Patrick, Wigtownshire, Scotland. John married Anna Tod Jamieson on 29 Aug 1853 at Mauchline, Ayrshire, Scotland. They emigrated to Australia in 1853 and had 13 children in Australia as follows: Mary, Elizabeth (married Gilbert Bogle), Janet, Andrew, Agnes, John 1856, Robert 1862, Adam 1866, Anna 1868, Mary 1871, William 1874, James A.G. born 23 Aug 1877 and Hugh 1879.
Please let me know if you see anything familiar or have any ideas about this family.
