I had an answer from a lady several weeks ago and I have misplaced her
address she answered about the Coons/Koontz/Counts family. If you are
watching please write.

I have been able to find my Coons/Counts/Koontz line to Shenandoah Co VA. I
have a 1779 Deed, which shows Michael Counts purchasing land, this land may
have been on the line between Dunmore and Shenandoah or was? 1783 Michael
Counts sold the same tract of land with his wife Rebecca Counts signing by
her mark. By 1784 or before they are in Green (NC became TN and in 1796 was
Jefferson Co., TN). Michael died abt. 1804 according to his will (it leaves
some doubt); by 1825/29 his children quit claim their portions to Michael's
son Joseph Coons. Two of the Coon's married Combs, one daughter, Mary Ann
married John Cate Jr. (my direct ancestor), a son George moved to Highland
Co OH., I have the quit claim deeds on 8 of these children.

I would certainly appreciate some help.
