Fortunatus Sherman was born 24 Sep 1728 in Dartmouth, Mass and died 19 Feb 1803
in Cambridge, NY. His will is found in book I, page 349 of Washington County
Wills (also on FHL film 513861) He is my 6 gguncle. --Bart K.

I, Fortunatus Sherman of Cambridge, State of New York being in a loe state of
helth but of a sound minde and memory think proper to make this my last will and
Testament as folloes. Viz, I order after my decease to be buried in the
grave-yard in Cambridge by the side of my wife at the discresion of my Executors
hereafter named and all my Just debts and funeral charges paid out of my Estate,
Except which I have given or may give before my decease the remainder to be
divided into twelve shears. I give to the congregation where the Revendur John
Dunlop is at present minister three dollars and fifty cents to be paid by Lemuel
Shearman his hears or assigns yearly forever; also I give to ye mistress my seat
in the Gallary for the use of the poor of ye Church also I give to my son Lemuel
one shear and my seat beloe he paying as above mentioned. Also I give to my
grand-son Fortunatus Sherman one shear. Also I give to my grand-daughter Sarah
Sherman one shear. Also I give to my son Amasa Sherman half a shear, and to his
daughter Hannah half a shear; and to his son Stephen half a shear; and to his
son Delano half a shear. Also I give to my Daughter Olvida Wells two shears and
to her daughter Sarah one shear. Also I give to my daughter Eunise Bishop two
shears and to her daughter Sarah one shear. Also I give to my grand-son
Fortunatus Berry half a shear and to my grand-daughter Rhoda Norton half a
shear. Likewise I appoint Lemuel Sherman & Bachelor Sherman & Natiel Wells
Jointly & severly my Executors and this may certify that this is my last will
and testament. Signed Sealed this seventeenth day of February one thousand
Eight hundred and three. as witness my hand. Fortunatus Sherman.
