Denise,
Evis SHERWOOD m. Charles ROSSELL (var. sp. ROOSEL). Evis was a dau.
of Thomas SHERWOOD (b. ? d. 1697/8) and Anne TURNEY, b. Soulbury,
Bucks, England, dau. of Benjamin TURNEY (one of the earliest settlers
of Fairfield, CT) and Mary ODELL. I have the TURNEY line back to
1445 if you need it.

>From "The New York Genealogical and Biographical Review," Vol. 51, p.
46: On 24 AUG 1697, Thomas SHERWOOD and wife Sarah, of Mile Square
(Westchester, NY), within the Manor of Phillips, for love and affection, deeded to
daughter, Evis SHERWOOD, 5 acres of land in Mile Square, lying 5 rods
from his home lot eastward; also 15 acres of undivided land.

Evis' father, Thomas, is either the son or grandson of Thomas
SHERWOOD the Pioneer (1585-1655) and his first wife, Alice. Thomas
and Alice came to America in 1634, aboard the ship "Frances", which
sailed out of Ipswich, England, on 10 APR 1634. No one has yet found
where in England Thomas and Alice called home.

Kind Regards,
Geoff

Geoffrey Sherwood
