ALEXANDER SHIRER DEAD

An Octogenarian Passes Quietly Away and is Laid to Rest.

After a long illness Alexander Shirer, of Adams township, is called from
earth and his body is now numbered with the dead. No words can describe
the manifold sufferings he endured and Death alone could cure his pains.

Alexander Shirer was born May 23, 1812 in Washington township, this county.
Upon reaching manhood he was married to Miss Jane Shields and located in
Adams township. He was engaged for many years at the carpenter trade and
assisted in erecting many buildings yet standing and occupied.

Several years ago his wife died and Mr. Shirer was left in the care of
his son and daughter who cared for him until his death which occurred July
15, 1892.

His remains were interred at the Bethesda church cemetery, Sunday afternoon,
Rev. Davies conducting the funeral services.

(Appeared in the Adamsville Register, July, 1892)
