Message Board Post:

I am trying to clarify the maiden name of the first spouse of my maternal GG grandfather, William CAMPBELL. He lived in Hamilton Township in Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada around 1850. I have found conflicting evidence that the spousal surname was either SIDEY or HAVENS. Both surnames existed in that area at that time. This spouse died in 1854 and was buried in the Pioneer Cemetery at Cold Springs along with a child, John CAMPBELL, who had died three years previously. There are other SIDEY burials in this cemetery, particularly, David SIDEY. The church adjacent to the Pioneer Cemetery burned in the last 1800's along with all the church records. I am wondering if your SIDEY research would cover this period in this location. Thanks.

Wayne Wickson
