As I have written to the Westmoreland List. There will be
only a limited soundex for in 1930 which will be coming
out April 2002. (See below) . There will be no soundex for
Pennsylvania.

This is just a thought - perhaps if your local genealogical society
could find a 1930 telephone directory for your county - it could be
used as an index until a better one comes along.

As I told our local genealogical society, as always happens much
of your research is not in the area in which you live. I wish the
counties in Pa. would do this.

There will be city directories for many of the larger cities (on film)
are at the branch of our National Archives. I have photocopied the
list and checked so for Our family. I hope to have a complete list
of city directories covering our interests by this fall.

The 1930 US Federal Census will be made available to the public in April
2002.
However, only ten states and portions of two others have been indexed
(using the Soundex system). These ten states are:

Alabama
Arkansas
Florida
Georgia
Louisiana
Mississippi
North Carolina
South Carolina
Tennessee
Virginia

Only certain counties for Kentucky and West Virginia have been indexed.
These are:

Kentucky Counties:
Bell
Floyd
Harlan
Kenton
Muhlenberg
Perry
Pike

West Virginia Counties:
Fayette
Harrison
Kanawha
Logan
McDowell
Mercer
Raleigh
