With so few Simmons in the US in the time of 1750-1800 has anyone tried a
backwards way of doing it?
Regardless off who they belong to (usually you hunt for *your* people)
figure out who goes where (what family).

I have a brick wall, Jonathan Simmons m. Minerva Reynolds she is from CT &
NY they had a son in Middleport NY but later lived in Ontario Canada, after
much frustration, I decided to go at it bass ackwards.

It seems there were only a handful of Simmons families. Still haven't found
my Jonathan....but have collected Simmons family groups and where they all
kind of dispersed to. I will try and make some sense of the research and
post it asap to a new page ( http://www.simmonsgenealogy.com )

Amazingly enough, early Simmons to the US seem to be either German or Irish
for the most part. One would expect English or Scottish!

Without causing list chaos...can I ask that you send gedcoms of your lines,
which I will put each on it's own *page* at simmonsgenealogy so that we can
look at them in an easy and recognizable format. It is often missed when
posting here a pared down his father was...and his father was.. because his
BROTHER or SISTER may be *the one* you are looking for.
