I need help with George Simmons who was born in 1782 in NC. 1805 found him in Hancock Co., Ga. listed as a batchlor. He first married Elizabeth Gray, but she apparently died before 1813. By that time Geroge was in Giles Co. Tn., where he married Susan McKissick, daughter of Thomas McKissick and Lucy Hudson Edwards McKissick. In 1829 George and his family had moved to Lauderdale Co., Al., and in 1843 George signed for his daughter Amanda to marry in Sumter Co., Al. The 1850 Census finds him still in Sumter Co., Al., but he is buried at the home of his daughter Melina Ann Douglas in Lauderdale Co.,Al. after 1860. Do you know his parents?
