Subject: Kentucky SIMPSON Lines (Va. connection?)

There seem to be several Ky. Simpson lines. I am once again trolling for
leads on mine.
My Simpson line settled in the South Central Ky counties of Green and
Washington in areas that later became the counties of Taylor and Marion.

The following children appear to be siblings but I have yet to confirm their
parents:
Melitous (have seen many variants of this spelling) b. abt 1809 m. Nancy
SALLEE
Jane b. unknown m. Abraham S. SALLEE
John b. unknown m. Elizabeth SALLEE
Mary Elizabeth b. abt. 1804 m. Valentine SALLEE

All these marriages occurred in the 1820's. Melitous appears to have been
the baby of the family. The 19th of the month appears as a wedding date so
frequently as to seem to have some special meaning to either the SALLEE
family or the SIMPSON family. I am guessing that there are other siblings
that I have not found.

The one clue I did get was an extract from court records that indicate a
James SIMPSON leaves guardianship of his minor child, Melitous, to a
McMURRY. Some believe that this connection to a McMurry indicates that this
James SIMPSON might have come from an area known as "Cow Pasture" in Va. due
to connections between the SIMPSONs and McMURRYs in that area.

Also seeking information on a possible Indian connection. The legend that
one of my lines descended from Indians was pretty difficult to deny when one
looked at my great grandmother and her brother, Virgil MALONE. Extremely
strong Native American features and these oldsters insisted they were of
indian descent while they were yet alive. I had ruled out every line of my
family (I forgot about the SIMPSON line) Until I got a letter from one of
the descendants of John SIMPSON and Elizabeth SALLEE who had grown up
hearing the same story about her line. (Perhaps James SIMPSON's wife?)

The Taylor county and Marion county SIMPSON descendants are begging for some
information we can use! There are several of us out here researching this
line and we have all hit a dead-end at the same spot!
