Fellow Singletons.
My wife (Eva Ray Foster) was born in Columbia, Maury Co. TN. Her
ggg-father was Richard Singleton Foster. Richard's g-father was George
Foster Jr.son of George Foster who married Mary Singleton - daughter of
Robert Singleton and a Miss Crow. What is interesting is that Richard
married his 2nd cousin Elizabeth Mann Foster who was the granddaughter
of William Foster another son of George and Mary Singleton Foster. These
Fosters were from Charlotte Co. VA. Our line of Fosters have kept
Singleton name in the family for over 7 generations. They liked it.
A cousin (Henry Ashcroft of Logan, UT) descends from Richard's first
child Margaret Singleton Foster. Richard's 10th child was named Richard
Singleton Foster Jr. Richard also had a brother named William SINGLETON
Foster. Cousin Henry has written a paper tracing Margaret Singleton
Foster back to George Foster and Mary Singleton. He has provided wills
or estate settlements for each generation.
Among the wills included is the Will of Robert Singleton. His will was
found as a copy in the Redwood Collection, Manuscript Division, Library
of Congress. The original County records hving been destroyed early in
history.
In communications with Tom Land, he suggested that I post this will.
Here is what Cousin Henry found.
