Here is why I am asking
I live in Jessamine Co Ky just down the road from Manoah's property in 1800
I have done a lot of research and looking in the courthouse and other places
in Ky and have never seen his name that way in official papers
but let me tell you what is on the Rev War memorial in front of the
Nicholasville courthouse
Manoah's name is longer than the other soldiers and it shows as:
M'N'H' Singleton
I and others believe that this is an abbreviation for manoah so it would fit
on the stone those are apostrophes not periods as if MNH are intials
I believe someone has taken the liberty to give names to these initials that
are not correct
Hawkins was the maiden name of Manoah's mother-in-law
Polly Hawkins Craig
I descend from her thru Manoah and wife Sally, her daughter
so I want proof if someone is going to listhis name this way that is why I
am searching for the source of his name as Manoah Nathaniel Hawkins Singleton
too many people put things out that they don't have a source of proof for and
this could be one
others listed on this stone with initials have periods and that is why his
name looks different those are not initials but an abbreviation
