Anya; Sounds like you are one of us. I have no Slaughter blood, just
Cousins. Bob Taylor is a descendant John Horton Slaughter and Billy
Slaughter, famous lawman, come to mind. He says the Slaughter Adobe in CA is
not his line ,at least he hasn't established a connection yet. They are not
my people so I don't really know much. Taylors are Isaac Taylor of Augusta
co VA. His ancetor John Slaughter and my ancestor Soloman Neatherlin married
the Mabry sisters.Robert's grandfather and my gr grandfather were brothers,
we are also related thru the Vickers family. We are related about six ways.
Our Taylors were Isaac, Isaac jr, Joseph, Albert calhoun, William Merrow,
James Albert and my father James Wesley Taylor. There is a family legend
that we are related to Pres Zachary Taylor but if it is true, it is thru the
female side, not the Taylors. Zachary's grandfather's second wife was Esther
Blackburn and we are Blackburn descendants. The Taylors and Slaughters are
southerners, from VA to TN, and NC and GA and AL, and MS, and TX, and CA.
You will have to call or write to Robert for more details. William Merrow
Taylor was married four times and had children by the first and fourth
wives. Texas is full of my cousins. Mostly south central Wilson, Atascosa,
Fayette, Wharton, Colorado, Milam,Caldwell cos and the vickers around there
and Georgetown.
