Hi:
Also found this book review in the Eastman newsletter.

- Update on "African American Genealogy, A Bibliography and Guide to
Sources"
Last week I wrote about a new book by Curt Witcher, called
"African American Genealogy, A Bibliography and Guide to Sources".
In that article, I mentioned that I had not seen the book, but I
passed on the comments of an enthusiastic person who had just
obtained it. Those comments included the words, "the most complete
guide available to the Kenneth Stampp Collection."
This week I received a nice e-mail with a correction from Tony
Burroughs, one of today's leading black genealogy experts. Tony
wrote:
"Witcher's bibliography does not include a guide to the
Kenneth Stampp Collection (Records of Ante-Bellum Southern
Plantations, by University Publications of America). That is a
collection of 1,583 reels of microfilm and there are extensive
guides to each of the fourteen series (A-N). What Witcher's
bibliography does include is the most complete list of
"plantation owners" from the Stampp Collection, organized by
state. Researchers still need to consult guides for individual
series."
Thanks for the correction, Tony.
Regards,
Nan
