Steve -- the term "precinct" is sometimes used in place of "district" -- it
was used mostly in rural areas and simply means a further division of the
county. Many of these precincts were started in the early formation of the
area (in the early 1800s) basically for taxing, censustaking, and voting
purposes. The legal division term "township" was used in some places
instead of "precinct." The precincts you mentioned were the 5 precinct
divisions of Warren County. If you get a History of Warren County, KY, it
will explain how the precincts were formed, when, and who they were named
for. Good luck. Sandi C.

To anyone,

During the 19th Century, what was the 'geographic' relationship between
Woodburn Precinct, Goshen Precinct, Potter Precinct, Covington Precinct and
Bowling Green Precinct? Are they all adjacent to one another?

What is the deal with these sub-regions of Warren County?

Steve
