I am looking for information on a Lewis Smith born abt. 1844 who married Rose
Ann Baker of Wolvsville, Frederick County, MD on Jan. 2, 1867. They had
sons, John Henry Clayton Smith, William D. Smith, Harry Edward (Ed).
According to the local newspaper, Rose Ann Smith left Lewis in 1874 and ran
off with Thomas H. Shelton who lived nearby. They were suspected of going to
PA. I have no death date for Lewis, but in 1899 Rose Ann Smith married
Thomas Shelton in Washington Co., MD. They both stated they were widowed.
