Dear Listers:

My oldest proven male SMITH is William S. SMITH, born in Robeson County, North
Carolina about 1864. - He moved to Georgia about 1890 and died in Georgia
before 1915. - Family lore indicates that he married a "Percie" (sp?)last name
unknown. - The 1900 Appling County Fed Census shows a wife named "Peorym" ?
(sp?). - The 1910 Appling County Fed Census shows a wife named "Jessie M.". -
With this information I am unable to pin-point the actual name of his wife. -
The 1900 and 1910 census information did allow me to identify his children and
where he was located during this period of time. - William S. SMITH is known
to have owned a farm and worked and lived out his life in and around the area
between present day Waycross, Ware County, Georgia and present day Baxley,
Appling County, Georgia [possibly very near what is NOW the Bacon County/Ware
County line].

Known children of William S. SMITH are: Walter Everett (sp?), Bessie A.,
Robert Lee, Quitman L., Mary Anna, and Onice Nadell SMITH. - Walter Everett,
Bessie A. and Robert Lee SMITH eventually moved to Jacksonville, Duval County,
Florida [about 1925] and lived out their lives. - Quitman L. and Onice Nadell
SMITH lived out their lives in and around the Waycross, Ware County, Georgia
area. - It is NOT known [now] where Mary Anna lived nor died.

Proven marriages for the children of William S. SMITH are: Robert Lee SMITH
[b.1894-d.1945] married Effie Rebecca BOYLES [b.1892-d.1963] in 1914 in Ware
County, Georgia. - Both Robert Lee and Effie Rebecca are buried in Kettle
Creek Cemetery, Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.; Onice Nadell SMITH [b.1908-
d.1984] married Ollie J. BARBER in 1923 in Ware County, Georgia.

Known siblings of William S. SMITH are: Brothers: James P., A.B., N.F., L.W.,
and A. SMITH; Sister: M.A. McNeil [nee SMITH]. - All of the siblings are
believed to have been born in the Robeson County, North Carolina area. - Some
recent discovered information indicates that James P. SMITH may have moved to
Georgia with or just before William S. SMITH.

This family is my biggest SMITH brickwall and I would welcome any assistance
in the re-construction of these SMITH's.

Cordially,

Bob Smith
