My oldest proven male SMITH is my GG Grandfather Manley/Manuel SMITH. His
middle name either starts with N or W. He was born 11 Oct 1876 in Forsyth
County, NC possibly in what is now Winston Salem. He died 13 May 1957 in
New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. He married Charity Jane AXSOM (20 Sep
1882 - 9 Apr 1956) on 3 Sep 1899 in Surry County, North Carolina.
On his death certificate, his parents are listed as Father: M. SMITH and
Mother (Maiden): I. SMITH. I have been unable to find him in the 1880
census and by 1900 he is married and out of his parents home.
Manley and Charity had the following Children:
1. <unnamed> (aft 1900 - before 1910) died as infant/child
