I am stuck!!!
Arthur Clyde Smith, my father, was born 1923 in unknown PA. Requests for birth certificates have come up empty. He had told me Breslau and Noxen. Neither had his birth.
I find his oldest sibling, Pauline, living with George and Mary Ann Smith in Wilkes-Barre, in 1920. Next sibling was George Jr., supposedly born 1919, but not on the same census.
Now for the biggest part of the puzzle. George Smith and Mary Ann Brown, daugther or Arthur and kate kane of Mauch chunk, were married circa 1910-1915. Place of marriage unknown, but more than likely in Mauch Chunk, Carbon County.
George was supposedly born June of 1882, again in Unknown PA. He died 12 Sept 1960 in Wilkes-Barre and was buried by the Salvation Army chapter out of Pittston. Buried Maple Hill Cem, with unmarked single grave.
Reverse Timeline:
1960 - Died in Wilkes-Barre; Death certificate had unknown for all pertinent entries.
1947 - Not living with his family in Wilkes-Barre, may have been in California, talk of another family between family members.
In 1930, he and family are living in Wilkes-Barre, coal teamster, hauled coal (for RA davis Coal Co. I have a pic of him with a horse and wagon with the words), non-military. first marriage at 19. age 46 (?)
1920, also found in Wilkes-Barre, George age 35, May age 26. Pauline age 4
1910, may have found him in Salem Twp. Still investigating that one. At least the age fits, lol. Will have to get the supposed parents names.
1882-1884 George Smith born in PA
Any help???
Dina
