Charles Somers SMITH b. 1798 in Philadelphia. Parents: Daniel SMITH and
his second wife Elizabeth SHUTE.
Maria Wilhelmina PALESKE b. 1799 in Philadelphia. Parents: Charles
Gottfried PALESKE, Esq. and Hannah ELMSLIE.
Charles and Maria married 1820 in Philadelphia. I have found 1 child,
daughter Louisa Paleske SMITH b. 1821 in Philadelphia,
d. 1886 in Philadelphia, married bef 1849 Lawrence TURNBULL, MD. The
descendants of Louisa and Lawrence are fairly
well documented with some known descendants in the 20th century.

I think that Charles and Maria had more than 1 child and might have had
a son Charles born 1829.

I suppose that there is also a possibility that there was another
Charles SMITH with spouse Maria, of child bearing age ca1829,
in the Philadelphia area.

Does the above ring any bells with anyone?

Additional info: Colonel Charles Somers SMITH was Commander of the 1st
Regiment Infantry National Guard of PA, which
became the 32nd Regiment Infantry of the Grand
Army of the Republic during the Civil War.
Charles Gottfried PALESKE, Esq. was formerly
"His Prussian Majesty's Councel-General to the USA".
