It is quite possible that while he came from England (a lot of the
ships did) that he was actually born in Ireland. A lot of the Irish
at that time went to England to find work but found their way to this
country. One of my Welsh ancestors said they were "from" England but
I later discovered their roots in Wales. In the 1800s it was not
popular in this country to be from Ireland particularly. Joanne
