HI ALL, LOOKING FOR above invidual who left charleston, SC after Civil; WAR
aat age of 9. with his father ??????Smith and 2 sisters Isabel and Clare(?).
Family lore had it that they woned or were associated with plantations and
slaves. William Horry Smith(WHS) is grandfather of my 97 year old mother in
law. He told her story about a slave named Big Jim who took care of him when
he was 4-5 and led him on horseback. WHS mother died prior to leaving SC.
Father took 2nd wife in NYC who later took family siver to England.Have
additional info. 2 of my mother in laws cousins are named William Horry
Smith. This is 4 yeat stumbling block. Any and all help appreciated
