Unproven children of Nimrod Smith, possibly by Lettice Nicholl Wyatt or by
the theorized second wife believed to be Nancy Wyatt:
These Smiths are definitely not issue of Lettice N. Wyatt Smith because of
the fact that they are not identified as siblings of whole blood, or of
any kind, in the 1839 probate of the estate of Isaac W. Smith, who does
identify, among others, his brothers William and Wyatt Smith who are proven
sons of Nimrod Smith in his will in 1846; thus all Smiths identified as
siblings of whole blood of Isaac are proven children of Nimrod and
Lettice.
Meanwhile, Lettice N. Wyatt Smith would seem to have been too old to have
children much after 1811; meanwhile, 1811 would seem to be the last time
that she appeared in any records, suggesting that she may have passed away
shortly after that date.
No records of a Nancy appear in connection with Nimrod Smith, and if she was
in fact the older sister of Lettice, then she too would have been much to
old to be the mother of these Smiths who were most likely born after 1811.
I wonder if earlier researchers tried to force these lost Smiths into the
gap between the last proven child of Nimrod and Lettice, and the known child
of Nimrod and Jane.
I cant help but wonder if in fact these Smiths are grandchildren of Nimrod
Smith, being children of Nimrods older sons who were married and having
children by these later birth dates.
