Dear Billie,

I'm from a line of Smiths that has a John Gaston Smith in it. You can find quiet a bit about at least one John Gaston Smith in Smith Cousins Four. There is a copy at the following places; Greenville Co., SC Public Library, South Carolinana(?sp) Library in Columbia, SC, The special collections at Clemson University and at the Pendleton Historical Society on the Square in Pendleton, SC. There is supposed to be one in York Co, SC but I don't know where at the present.

If you don't connect I'll put you in touch with the Col. John Smith Historian and he has all the details.

not listed as "whole blood" heir of Isaac W. Smith in his estate papers 1839
named as child in will of Nimrod Smith, 30 July 1846
