Hello Smiths,
Is any one else looking for ancestors and/or descendants of James SMITH and
Elizabeth JAAP who were married 5 April 1833 in Paisley?
They probably had a number of children, but I've only found 3 so far:
Honora b 1836/7 Paisley (my g-g-grandmother)
Robert b 1838/9 Paisley
Sarah b 1856 Bridgeton, Glasgow
Honora or Nora SMITH had an illegitimate son, William b 2 Oct 1859, but married
John ALEXANDER 25 Aug 1865 and had four children, John 1866, Elizabeth 1868, James
1871, Christina 1873.
Robert SMITH married Agnes LAURENCE 2 Dec 1859 Glasgow. Four children Robert
1863, Alexander 1866, James 1868, Agnes Simpson 1874. For the 1881 census Robert
was listed as a "Packing Case Maker Master" employing 16 men, 3 boys.
Honora Smith Alexander's sons William SMITH and John ALEXANDER were also listed as
packing box makers on the 1881 census.
I'm still looking for details on Sarah SMITH.
Is there anyone else researching this line?
Win MacKenzie
