An update for any who want to do some genetic comparisons through male
Y-DNA. (The Southern Smiths project uses FamilyTreeDNA). We have over 312
members in the project who have had a direct line male Smith test for
various lines that have a connection at some point in the southern states
that include, among others, Virginia. I invite you to go take a look and
see if your line is represented here. We've been doing this now for about 3
years and are getting some groups that appear to be related. The main page
is at http://www.southernsmiths.org <http://www.southernsmiths.org/>;

Even if you aren't able to participate in the DNA project for whatever
reason, please do add your line to the Smith lines on the forums page, which
I recently put up. http://www.southernsmiths.org/mbbs22/category-view.asp
- the forum is alphabetized by first name.
