I am seeking information on George S. Smith of Rowan County, NC. He
married Mary E. Roberson and had a son named George Washington Smith who
was born June 3, 1859, also in Rowan County, NC.

I am of the George Smith line of Catawba Co., NC to Lincoln Co., NC to
Burke Co., NC and later into Caldwell Co., NC. I do not find your George S.
within this group, however, I do have the following which might assist you:

Rowan County Will Abstracts 1753-1805 by Linn: page 11 -

"A:150. Peter SMITH - Sep 19, 1767, prb 1767. Wife not named. Sons:
George, Peter, John. Daus: Margret, Mary, Susanna, Elizabeth, Magdalen.
Grandchildren of daughter Eve by John Adams, dec'd: John, George, Peter,
Barbara and Susanna Adams. Christopher Knatzer. Exrs: James Carson, sons
George Smith and Richard Walton. Wit: James Carson, Rachel Hamton, Mary
Dunn, John Dunn. He mentions a suit against son Peter by Margret Bisle in
Superior Court of Salisbury."
