Subject: [SMITH] George Smith - Irish Immigrant - SC - Circa 1773
Date: Wed, 5 Apr 2000 01:29:04 EDT
I've just found this in a book and am chasing it hoping it may be an
ancestor. This is literally ALL that I have. This George Smith was given
land in SC circa 1773 thanks to a government program (see, there were give
aways then too!). The following is the land description. P.F. means Plat
Folder, Pre Revolutionary Plats.
"George Smith - P.F. 1744; 6 Jan. 1773; in Craven Co., southwest side of
Black Creek; bd'd Samuel McCants, John Smith; sur. 25 June 1773." The
probable county for this land is now Darlingotn.
Does this ring any bells with anyone?
Thank-you,
Mary
