SNEAD / SNEED in Amherst Co., VA and Nelson Co., VA:

Would like to hear from researchers working on this surname in these two
counties during the 1700s and 1800s.

James R. SNEED was born in 1790s and Cary in later part of 1790s, perhaps
1800, both in VA. Cary's pension records show his parents as Randolph
and Dicey (ROWSEY) SNEED.

James R. SNEED and Cary SNEED both served during the War of 1812 from
Amherst Co., VA. James married in 1816 to Lucy HATTER in Nelson Co., VA
and Cary married in 1818 to Mary "Polly" HATTER in Nelson Co. Both Lucy
and Polly were daughters of John Matthews and Mary (COLEMAN) HATTER.

How is James related to Cary? Brothers? Was James son of Randolph and
Dicey (ROWSEY) SNEED? Randolph and Dicey married in 1794 in Amherst Co.,
VA. Randolph was on 1810 and 1820 Amherst Co., VA censuses then 1830 and
1840 Nelson Co., VA censuses. I lost him after the 1840 census. Cary
remained in Nelson Co., VA until his death in 1870s. Has anyone
identified Randolph Sneed, James R. Sneed or Cary Sneed? Let me hear
from you.
