Ann Eliza Mackey, nee Banta may have
lived in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, ca
1885-1890. She may have been with her
young son, Frank P. and have remarried.
Re: George Mackey Family
I am searching my Mackey ancestors and I
am stuck in Saratoga County, New York.
George Mackey was born in Pennsylvania,
ca 1819. I believe that his family came
to
Saratoga County, and settled in the
Clifton Park area. I do not know the
names of
Georges parents. They may have been
Irish immigrants or descended from the
same.
On 09 May 1843, George Mackey married
Ann Eliza Banta. She was the daughter of
Isaac Banta and Amy Weeks. I believe
that this Banta family lived in the
Jonesville-Burnt
Hills-Clifton Park area. This marriage
could have taken place in Saratoga
County, New
York or in Marquette County, Wisconsin
where this family Homesteaded in 1843.
They
had several children who died at young
ages.
George and Ann Eliza Mackey also had a
son, Adelbert George Mackey, who was
born in Eastline, Saratoga County, New
York on 06 Aug 1852. Ann Eliza Mackey
may
have returned to Saratoga County because
of family illness.
George Mackey died in Marquette
Township, Green Lake County, Wisconsin
in 1873.
Ann Eliza Mackey appears in an 1885
Wisconsin Special State Census, living
in
Portage, Colombia County, Wisconsin with
son Frank P. Mackey. The disposition of
Ann Eliza and Frank P. is unknown.
I descend from son Adelbert G. Mackey
and his descending genealogy is quite
complete.
If you have researched your Mackey
ancestry, and know anything about a
Mackey family,
with a son, George Mackey, circa
1830-1843 or a Banta family of the same
period,
residing in the Jonesville-Burnt Hills
area, I would appreciate hearing from
you.
Ann Eliza Banta had several siblings,
who were born in Saratoga County: Peter
Nilson,
Daniel, Emeline, Willliam Henry, Ira
Swan, Levi Stimpson, George Chadsey and
Caroline M.
Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely yours,
Ronald E. Yielding,
Mackey Family Historian
