ACTIS, Tony D. - Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tomorrow, with a funeral
mass at 10 a.m. Friday for tony D. Actis, 56, a Mojave businessman who died
Feb. 6. Both services will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Mojave
with interment following at East kern Cemetery in Mojave. The Rev. James Maloney
will officiate. Born in Bakersfield, Actis had lived in Mojave all his life.
He was owner of Tony Actis Tractor Service and operator of the Mojave and
Arvin sanitary landfills. He also was a charter member of Elks Lodge 2059 and
was a member of the Red Baron air racing team. Survivors include his mother
Maria of Santa Maria; a son, Chester of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mary Killiam
of Santa Barbara and Stella Franklin of El Paso, Tex., and a brother, Reno of

D. Actis, 56, 2456 Oak Creek Road, who died Monday when he was struck in the
head with a tire rim.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tomorrow with mass to be celebrated at 10
a.m. Friday. Both services will be in St. Francis Catholic Church in Mojave.
The Rev. James Maloney will officiate, and interment will follow in East Kern
Cemetery.
Born to Italian immigrants in Bakersfield in 1921, Actis lived in Mojave all
his life. He was owner of Tony Actis Tractor Service and was involved in
several other businesses, including operation of the Mojave and Arvin sanitary
landfills.
He was involved in Mojave airport activities and was a member of the Red
Baron racing team. He also was a charter member of Elks Lodge 2059. Survivors
include his mother, Maria of Santa Maria; a son, Chester of Los Angeles; two
sisters, Mary Killiam of Santa Barbara and Stella Franklin of El Paso, Texas,
and a brother, Reno of Arroyo Grande.
