Tyrus "Tye" Buck
Services: Mon., June 21, 2 p.m.
Friends and invited to attend Chapel services Monday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at
Hillcrest memorial Park for Tyrus "Tye" Buck, who passed away June 17, 1993.
Mr. Buck was born 80 years ago in south Dakota. He came to the west coast
during the depression, settling in Kern county in 1935. He worked many years
for Gundlach's before establishing Tye's Appliance Service from which he
retired at age 78.
He was especially proud that he had served his country as a staff sergeant
during World War II. He flew 57 missions as top-turret gunner in a B-26 and
participated in D-Day.
Tye was devoted to his wife and family. After 44 years of marriage he still
held his wife's hand and brought her coffee in bed every morning. A man of
simple pleasures, he enjoyed helping others, telling jokes, playing solitaire,
and growing tomatoes.
He is survived by his living wife, Erma; daughters, Carolyn Swortfiguer,
Shirley Blagg and Sandra Di Ciaccio; son, Warren buck; step-sons, Robert and
Dale Brandon, and several grandchildren.
