In some 13th century deeds containing references to the name Tonebregge
(TUNBRIDGE) the following places are mentioned:-
St Pancras, Lewes
Parish of St John, Suthenovre, at Lewes
Alvred's ruin in the Westport of Suthenovere, in the parish of St John the
Baptist and St Mary Magdalene.
Can any kind soul tell me if these references really are as they seem - to
Lewes in Sussex, and if so where or what was Suthenov(e)re likely to be?
