then go on to comment:

I cant right now remember the correct name for this sort of
grammatical/compositional error, but suffice it to say your points
would seem to me to be mutually exclusive!
If the SOG correctly labels the tapes, but a genealogist is too dumb
to read the label, then it reflects on the dumb genealogist, not the
maker of the label! If said dumb genealogist then lambasts the SOG,
the lecturer or anyone else, then he merely makes himself look even
more stupid.
As a corollary (sp?) if the SOG or the maker of the tape then get
upset about the comments of a provably stupid criticism, then *they*
in turn look stupid - its not their problem in the first place, and
as I'm sure we are all aware, if we start to feel guilty about
matters for which we have no responsibility, we merely demonstrate
character weaknesses of our own! :-)
