Pencils with caps (plastic rather than metal, usually) can still be bought
from cosmetic counters - look for eye pencils or lip liners, which are often
just a very very soft short pencil and sometimes come with a cap. What you
do with the make-up is another matter. This type of thing also turns up at
jumble sales, both the old style metal caps and discarded make-up, possibly
complete with cap. Magazines occasionally have a freebee pencil of this type
on the cover which is very likely to have a protective cap. If you do end up
having to buy one, at least it should outlive several pencils.
