Yes you read it correctly:-
Anasarca = General dropsy - a dropsical condition of the whole body.

Dropsy = An accumulation of water under the skin, producing a swollen
condition; watery serum. Nowadays this would be called oedema.

Caused by diseases of the circulatory, respiratory or urinary systems. I
am not a doctor, but I would guess that heart or kidney failure might have
been the underlying cause.

There are at least 24 doctors on this list, but I don't know which are
doctors of medicine, but I am sure that one of them can help further.
