Jeremy Wilkes was asking about a RAM upgrade to his computer. Normally I
would suggest that this is off-topic, but since the List is currently very
quiet then I am happy to let the theme develop. - Provided of course that
Jeremy only uses his computer for genealogy <grin>.

It's a pity that you don't know the manufacturer of your PC, the best bet
would be to ask them. Can you ask the people who supplied your computer?

Somebody more technical than I am may correct me if I am wrong [please !]
but I would say that a 486 would not get the benefit of EDO SIMMS, though
it may make no difference anyway. If your meagre manual gives no details
and the original supplier can't help, then I suggest that you ask one of
the memory supply specialist companies such as Kingston, who advertise in
the computer magazines. Many years ago I upgraded my then 286 and they
were most helpful.

You will need to know what type of memory best suits your motherboard and
certainly adding more RAM to a 486 will help it run Windows 95. Knowing
the date of manufacture should narrow the choice of memory type for an
expert opinion.
