Benjamin Capper's 1813 Gazeteer has the following entry for Newton Bushell:

NEWTON BUSHELL, a market town in the parish of Kingsteignton, hundred of
Teignbridge, Devon, 13 miles from Exeter and 187 miles from London, near the
river Teign; containing 167 houses and 856 inhabitants, including the parish
of Kingsteignton. The market is on Wednesday. Fairs, 24th June, first
Wesnesday in September, and 6th November.
